Jadavpur University Professor Compares Virgin Girls To Sealed Bottle, Deletes Facebook Post After Controversy
Kanak Sarkar, a professor of Political Science at Kolkata’s Jadavpur University has courted controversy after he equated “virgin brides” with sealed bottles.
Sarkar, who claims to have two decades of teaching experience has now deleted Facebook post titled “Virgin Bride-Why Not?”. He went on to claim that boys remain such fools that they are not aware of the benefit of having a virgin girl as a wife.
“Are you willing to buy a broken seal while purchasing a bottle of cold drink or a packet of biscuits?”
“A girl is biologically sealed from birth until it is opened. A virgin girl means many things accompanied as values, culture, sexual hygiene” and “Virgin girl is like Sealed Bottle or sealed packet”, his tirade of nonsense continued.
Since his post courted controversy Sarkar has deleted his posts. Meanwhile, others have posted screenshots of his previous posts which are equally sexist.
Also turns out, in 2017 Sarkar was accused of sexual harassment.
Sarkar who has cleaned up his Facebook timeline following the controversy is, however, staying defiant.
Calling it his right to freedom of expression in Social Media, Sarkar said “It’s everybody’s right to express his / her thoughts. I have given many posts for and in favour of women. Can verify them in my Timeline.”
