What’s the difference – Cupcakes Vs Muffins?
Cupcakes, as the name suggests, are cup shaped small mini-cakes, which are softer and lighter in texture. Mostly, cake-flour and butter are used in its’ preparation and cupcakes are 100% sweet. They majorly come in vanilla, chocolate and red-velvet flavors, and a variety of frostings.
Muffins, on the other hand, are slightly drier and usually denser than cupcakes. They’re generally made with whole wheat flour and vegetable oil, loaded with fruit instead of a candy and can be savory or sweet.
But, the most distinguishing feature is the frosting. Muffins don’t have frostings and cupcakes have them.
Here’s how I would like to summarize it in a tabular form.
There was an amusing statement that I came across when I was writing this muffin vs cupcake discussion. It was “If you threw a cupcake against a wall, you would hear somewhat of a ‘poof!’ If you threw a muffin, you would hear a ‘thud!'”. Quite true though! Nevertheless, muffin or cupcake – if it is well baked, it would make me a happy eater!
