Whatsapp Group Admins Can Now Restrict Members Sending Messages: Here’s How to Activate

The new age of texting communication, WhatsApp, has recently unwrapped its newest update that lets the group admin restrict select group members from sending messages. The messages can be in any form of media; text, audio, video, gifs, voice messages, or documents. By updating the texting application with this new update the group administrator has more power over their group. Through this update, the members of the group can also be protected from inappropriate content being sent by a group member. Every message sent by a restricted member of the group has to be approved by the group admin in order to get posted on the wall of the WhatsApp group.

Whatsapp Latest Update:

As per the reports of WABetaInfo, a site that tests new updates of WhatsApp way earlier to its release on the public platform, the update for “Restricted Groups” is available for installing in Google Play’s Beta Programme that is present in the version 2.17.430. This allows receiving feature activation from a remote place. The website also stated, “all participants can normally edit the group description, icon, and subject, but finally the administrator can restrict this feature today, preventing no-administrators to modify the group description.”

Whatsapp Restricted Groups: How to Activate

Aforesaid, and to put light onto the update, the new updates of restricting members of the group can be done only by the admin of the group. However, the admins can keep sharing images and other media along with texting as usual as they are able to restrict others. Upon getting restricted by the admin, the restricted members need to use the button “Message Admin” to message a text or media to the group. The message and the content have to be approved by the admin to let the other members of the group see their message. The admin of the group will have exclusive option dedicated only to the admin of a group called as Admin Settings.

Also, an admin can tap on the Group Info to claim the option and restrict any group member through the same option. Further, an admin can also control who can change the Group Info of the group through this option. In addition to these privacy measures, it is also said that soon the WhatsApp group members will be able to choose the group members who are allowed to change the subject of the group along with group info and group display picture. This information was reportedly published in the October reports.

On the other hand, WhatsApp had recently rolled out a most-wanted and long-awaited feature “Delete message for everyone” that lets the users delete the sent messages at both the ends. This turned out to be a very successful update that lets the user delete the messages that were wrongly sent to other numbers than the destined number. The update works the same way with groups too. Anyone can revoke a message that was being sent to a wrong group by just deleting the message, which will delete the message both at the sender’s end and receiver’s end.
