Harpreet Singh appointed CEO of Alliance Air, first woman to head an Indian carrier

Air India’s regional subsidiary Alliance Air announced Harpreet A De Singh as the CEO of the airlines which makes her as the first woman to hold the position in a scheduled passenger Indian carrier.

Mr. Rajiv Bansal, Air India Chairman & Managing Director on Friday had issued an order saying that Singh will be holding the position till further orders as per Times of India. Currently Singh was holding a position of Air India’s executive director (flight safety) and will be replaced by Captain Nivedita Bhasin on her post. Singh was also the first woman pilot selected by Air India in the year 1988. Owing to health constraints she could not fly at that time. She was also the head of the Indian Women Pilot Association.
