Goa CM launches Whatsapp helpline for women in distress
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched a Whatsapp helpline number for Women in distress at Police Headquarters, Panaji, in the state on Monday.
As per ANI, speaking on the occasion CM congratulated Goa Police for this initiative and said, this is an additional measure of safety for women in distress.
He also asserted the need to circulate the helpline number at a large scale through media, social media, railway stations, airports and other concerned government institutions to make maximum reach of the helpline number to the women seeking help. The Women helpline aims to provide all- time security and comfort to the womenfolk and to achieve zero crime against women in the state.
“As an additional measure of safety for women in distress, an exclusive Whatsapp helpline number 7875756177 is launched today. This dedicated Whatsapp number will be functional round the clock at the State Police Control Room, Panaji, to redress grievances to women in distress,” Sawant tweeted.
“The women in distress will be able to send Whatsapp messages and images/videos on this number,” Sawant tweeted further.
