Run2Care – Delhi’s Shortest Marathon is here to walk you through the different forms of disabilities
India is home to 2.7 crore people with disability, which includes both physical and mental disabilities, according to the 2011 Census. Disability awareness is very important when it comes to breaking stereotypes and overcoming misconceptions regarding disabilities. To spread awareness about different kinds of disabilities, Delhi is hosting its first shortest marathon – Run2Care where we are inviting all the runners from Delhi/NCR to race an entire 999 meters in less than 45 minutes.
The event is inspired by the WORLD’S SHORTEST HALF MARATHON: The Point One Run! The idea is to keep the running tradition alive and engage people who do not take part in long marathons, thus discussing with them the 21 kinds of disabilities under the Disability Act, 2016. We hope to encourage people to appreciate differences and talk about their personal experiences openly.
Startup Leadership Programme and Those In Need are organising Run2Care, partnering with the knowledge partner, In For The Cause (Awareness For Inclusion Foundation) which is a platform to raise awareness and promote employment for people with disability. There will be a token of encouragement for top 3 and last 3 runners along with different activities to understand the engagement with specially abled people.
Date: Sunday, 24th February 2019
Time: 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Location: DLF Place, Saket
