How to take care of your hair in Monsoon

Cool breeze in the air, thundering sound in the sky, tiny droplets on leaves and that sweet earthy smell. Yes! Monsoon has arrived. Now who doesn’t like to get drenched in the rain. But, do you know the humid weather can actually make your hair brittle, dry and also cause hair fall. Hair fall during monsoons is quite common.
To beat the monsoon blues, here are some tips to take care of your hair in monsoon.

Cover your head: If its cloudy outside always cover your head before stepping out of house. The humid weather and acidic rain can make your hair dull and dry.
In case if you get drenched in rain, dry your hair properly. It is not recommended to keep your hair wet for a long time as it may cause hair damage and make your hair dry and frizzy. If possible get a head bath too.

Oiling: Oil your hair with choice of your hair oil, massage well for 10 mins and cover with a shower cap. Oiling should be done once or twice a week. This will provide nourishment to your hair and improve blood circulation thereby strengthening hair follicles.

Cleansing: As there is so much humidity in the atmosphere, it can make your hair dry and frizzy. So cleanse your hair with a mild shampoo. This will keep your hair free from fungal or bacterial infections. Always dilute shampoo with water and apply on scalp and massage gently, this will not make your natural oils strip of your hair.

Conditioning: After washing its time to condition your hair. Apply conditioner of your choice from middle lengths to the ends of your hair. Keep it for 2 mins and wash it off with plain water. You can also apply aloe vera gel as conditioner. This works great leaving your hair smooth and silky.

Dry hair: Dry your hair properly with an old cotton t-shirt or a micro fibre towel or let it air-dry. Do not put pressure or rub vigorously. During monsoons hair tend to be weak. This can worsen your problem.

Avoid hair style products: Avoid the hair products you are using for hair like hair stylers, hair straighteners, hair blowers etc. as the heat weakens your hair follicles. If its needed, use a good heat protector before exposing hair to heat.

Proper diet: Diet plays a very important role in hair care. Your hair needs nourishment not only from outside but inside as well. Include Eggs and Dairy Products like milk, yogurt, cheese etc. and peanuts, beans, lentils, green peas, walnut, oats, carrots in your diet.
